Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Neuroscience and Regnerative Medicine at Georgia RegentsUniversity.
He is PI or CO-I on 3 active NIH R01-equivalent grants (PI on one NIH R01, Co-I on another NIH R01, and Co-I on a VA Merit Award). He was also PI on a previous AHA National Scientist Development grant (4-year award), indicating a strong track record of obtaining extramural funding.
He has over 70 publications in high tier journals such as PNAS, Nature Communications, Brain, J Neuroscience, and including several in PLoS One, which is an outstanding publication record. Virtually all of these papers are on stroke. .
He has also reviewed papers for many scientific journals and served as Editor for Plos One and Guest Editor of a Special Issue in a journal.
His area of expertise is stroke, neurodegeneration and brain repair.
